What's New

The exciting news for 2005 is that the Chaparral Genealogical Society will have a new home for our Library. The house from the McDougal family homestead was donated to the Society by Leonard Benfer. The historic 1856 white-washed, cedar-sided and tin-roofed Homestead will be located at the Tomball Historical Museum Center site.  This site was obtained by signing a 100 year lease with the Spring Creek County Historical Association and Tomball Museum Center, for 1.5 city lots, approximately 85-feet by 140-feet, located at 550 Hicks Street on the grounds of the Tomball Museum District complex.   In December 2004, the house was relocated from it's original location along Stuebner Airline to the Museum District.  Now the renovation begins to bring the house back to it's historical condition.  Once the house has been renovated, the Library will be moved to the new location.  Below is a picture of the house at it's new location.  Watch for the announcement of the Grand Opening of our new library.
