He will be discussing his book "OLD 300 GONE TO TEXAS" which details the lives of the original 300 settlers that came to Texas with Stephen F. Austin.

Trevia Wooster Beverly will present her program "What's a Poor Girl to Do?" In a wild time scandalous women wore makeup, short skirts and dyed their hair. They kept company with rough men and supported themselves the only way they knew how. Should we think less of them for what they did,or respect them for making their way in a mostly male world. Fortunately, we do not have to judge either them or their circumstances. The life of these women was nothing like what the movies about the Old West portrayed.

Paul Spellman will speak August 26 about his World War I book. As we are now celebrating the 100th anniversary of World War I, we know you will find this interesting. His book "Until I Come Home, Love Letters From the War" should be a fascinating journey into the lives of our soldiers.

Our Speaker will be Kevin Klaus. Mr. Klaus has been with the Texas General Land Office Archives and Records Program for the past 15 years. He has searched the early Court of Claims files, German Collection and archival collection to learn more about the history of Texas. He has discovered the amazing collection of personal letters of early soldiers and pioneers who helped settle our great state. During the past few years he has concentrated his research on the German Collection and the early German settlers that came to Texas under the Adelsverein in the 1840's In the process he has honed his skills in searching the records in Germany. Come join us to here how he has traced some of his own family.

Our speaker will be Carol Ann Waldrop with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She will be telling us of the exciting things happening at the DRT and how to find your ancestors in the DRT records. She will also highlight a book that she donated to our Library about her three times great grandmother, Ann Raney Coleman. Ms. Coleman came to Texas in 1832. She wrote about her experiences and adventures while living in the Texas Gulf Coast area and of her time at the boarding house with Jane Long.

Fran's passion is FamilySearch. Much of her time is spent assisting others through social media with their family research as well as working with FamilySearch support and the Chief Genealogical Officer's office.

Fran is also the District N Representative for Texas State Genealogical Society.
